AR model takes over London Fashion Week
Harnessing the transformative power of 5G, Three worked with director Connie Harrison, Dimension and PrettyGreen to showcase an incredible volumetric capture of Adwoa Aboah at London Fashion Week. This stunning capture was projected onto a wall overlooking the front row with mobile handsets streaming an augmented reality version of the supermodel walking down the catwalk. The execution is a nod to a future where models will be able to walk the catwalk for multiple shows around the world, simultaneously.
Through a combination of Dimension's latest Microsoft Mixed Reality volumetric capture technology and Three’s 5G network, Adwoa Aboah enjoyed a front row view of the latest collections at Central Saint Martins MA fashion show, before witnessing herself appear as a volumetric video performance down what appears to be an otherwise empty catwalk. The advanced technology created a 5G fuelled volumetric model and an outfit that could also be viewed at any angle by those on the FROW through the latest 5G phones.
The volumetric supermodel was part of a fully immersive show designed to awaken all the senses – effects included spatial audio, haptic feedback, a 46-metre projection occupying the length of the runway and an array of aromas, each used to reflect the designer’s inspirations. Following the show, fans were able to project volumetric Adwoa Aboah into the location of their choice through 8th Wall's WebAR solution.
