Meet The Teacher

I am Dwight Francis. This is my first year at Dillard Chartered Academy. I am a 7th grade Mathematics and Science Teacher. I believe that this will be an exciting year for me since I am exposed to a very knowledgeable admin and academic staff.

At Dillard the expectations are high and I am prepared to swim, dive, and paddle to ensure that the students perform at a high level to meet the changing demands of school and society. I am a strong believer that when students learn the basic skills in any discipline, it becomes easier for them to transition from one level to the next. I am also aware that there will be challenges, but as our theme suggests, students will "Catch the wave to academic success".

At Dillard we believe that it is important to know exactly where our students are before we can proceed with what they need to learn. In order to understand where they are, within the first week of our instruction, we will be administering a diagnostic test for our students. We will use the data gathered to chart the course and help us to provide individual learning environments for our students. As you might be aware, we use the I-ready platform to do the required topics and standards identified by the North Carolina Education Department. We will be using I-ready as the platform for our diagnostic tests.
