Who Am I?
Hi! I am Flavia, a Postdoc researcher in the Department of Computer, Control, and Management Engineering Antonio Ruberti (DIAG) at Sapienza Università di Roma, where I work within the Processes, Services and Software Engineering group. I also serve as a contract lecturer for the AI2 (Intelligenza Artificiale 2) course at the Department of Philosophy in the B.Sc. in Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence.
My research sits at the intersection of smart environments, critical systems and AI-driven software engineering. I design and evaluate intelligent pipelines that integrate computer vision, machine learning and large language models (LLMs) into production environments, with a focus on quality monitoring, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and zero-defect manufacturing goals.
Beyond performance, I am increasingly interested in how AI systems are built, governed, and deployed responsibly. This includes studying compliance with the EU AI Act and GDPR in industrial contexts, exploring algorithmic transparency, and examining the ethical implications of autonomous decision-making in critical workflows.
I received my Ph.D. in Engineering in Computer Science, with a thesis titled "Achieving Resiliency in Smart Manufacturing through Artificial Intelligence" at Sapienza Università di Roma.
