The Reading Room
There are lots of wonderful things happening in the Reading Room this year, and this site is a good a resource for learning how to expand and improve your child's literacy skills!
The National Reading Panel has identified five main areas of reading to focus on to improve literacy instruction. These areas are: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Comprehension and Vocabulary. This site gives an explanation of each, along with links to activities and ideas for improving your child's reading.
In addition, I've added a link with a list of Educational Apps for your iPad/iPhone that are great for practicing literacy skills.
