Industry Standard, State of the Art, Hydraulic Testing Services for DoD and Industry
SSI rests on the foundation of over 60 years of experience in the Fluid Power Industry. Our goal is to help client companies to develop effective contamination control solutions, and the products needed to successfully implement those solutions.
Charlie Juhasz, a recognized leader in the industry, has been a leader in developing Glass Fiber filter media, Metal Fiber filter media, and the manufacturing processes to turn these materials into high performance filtration products.
To advance the science and technology of contamination control we found existing industry practices, testing methods, and standards inadequate in today's dynamic environment. The fluid power industry needs a realistic, accurate, and repeatable method to determine the performance of a filter, and its effect on fluid cleanliness. We developed the test methods and equipment to provide a powerful tool for the industry for evaluating filter performance for effective contamination control. We call it Dynamic Filter Efficiency.
The Controlled Contamination Test System (CCTS) has been developed by SSI to create a controlled contamination test environment to test under dynamic operating conditions, with all data including particle counts collected, recorded, and displayed in real time.
The CCTS is covered by the US patent No 6,453,257:
APPARATUS FOR TESTING THE ABILITY OF A FILTER TO FILTER CONTAMINANTS
•Filter testing
•Pump testing
•Servo valve and other hydraulic component testing
SSI provides testing services for various MIL-F and SAE specifications such as MIL-F-8815, SAE J2321, and PMA amongst others.
Dynamic Filter Efficiency
Media Migration
Flow Fatigue
Cold Start
Bubble Point
We provide testing for all types of filter elements utilizing the CCTS and real time monitoring and particle counting.
Steady state, and dynamic (variable) flow
Flow rates from 1 to 100GPM
Pressures from 1 to 3000PSI
Contaminant tolerance test
Wear test
Break in test
Endurance test
Impending failure determination
SSI has developed both hot and cold chambers including cold start capabilities with realtime pressure and temperature monitoring.
Temps from -65F to >200F
SSI and Charles Juhasz have been participating in the SAE Contamination panels (aircraft and ship) for over 40 years. We have been helping to drive the specifications leading to cleaner, safer systems.
