What We Do:
A high school based group that collects items monthly to give away
We run a clothing closet at the high school. It has clothes, personal hygiene items, food, water bottles, etc for any student who needs them. This is also used for students in temporary homes or students who are homeless in the district.
We work with the Greater Lansing Food Bank and provide weekly food bags to high school students
Future Collections:
October- Socktober. Collecting socks for homeless shelters. New or gently used
November- Halloween Candy, food for the DeWitt food pantries
December- Gift bags for Lansing kids (Kid hats and mittens, crayons, coloring books, small toys, tote bags, kid books)
Giving Tree at the high school
January/February- Elementary requests
March- Stocking our high school clothing closet (travel or full sized personal hygiene items, nail polish, body sprays, lotions, perfumes, Old Spice body wash or spray)
April- Treats for our high school teachers
May- Collecting hygiene supplies for the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing (pads, tampons, paper towel, lysol wipes, full size lotion, shampoo and conditioners)
We collected over 700 pairs of socks in October for local homeless shelters. In November we collected food for the DeWitt food banks. In December we adopted a kindergarten and 1st grade in Lansing. We gave gift bags for every child which included personal hygiene items, crayons and coloring books, snacks, books and other goodies!
This club is for any high school student to join and it is so much fun! You and your friends can join and share the joy that comes from giving back to the community. It is very empowering and all our experiences are so eye opening.
