Students experimented with molding paste to create textural painting of their choice.

Artist Study

Students created landscape paintings inspired by an artist of their choice. Such as Monet, Bob Ross and Edvard Munch. What a great selection of paintings!

Faceted Gems

Students created painted color studies to create faceted gem paintings.  Exact color values were emphasized!  Beautiful!

Color Theory Mini's

Exploration in color mixing and color families.

Artist Portrait Studies

Students chose an artist style to recreate in a portrait painting.  Students researched, planned and painted portraits to reflect the style of the artist.

Advanced Painting using Oil Paint

Students used oil paint for the first time to create images of their choice.  

Up Close Paintings

Students created paintings of an up-close view of an object.  Students painted realistic images using color value, details and texture.

Acrylic Color Scheme Paintings

Students chose an animal, bird or reptile to paint using one color scheme.  A grid technique was used to draw their animal realistically.  Students applied the color scheme along with tints and shades to complete the image.

Watercolor Paintings

Students explored watercolor properties, materials and techniques to create original landscape, still life and student choice paintings.

Watercolor Mandalas

Students learned how to paint a color wheel using the only the Primary Colors: red, blue and yellow to create a beautiful mandala.  The use of value, tints and shades were also incorporated into the paintings.

Watercolor Paintings

Students explored watercolor media to create 4 different paintings  using a variety of watercolor techniques.  Students created a landscape, still life, and two of their choice.

Watercolor Cacti

Students created watercolor cacti to demonstrate value, layers, and forms using watercolor paints.

Artist Style Landscapes

Students researched a painting style and artist to recreate in a painting.  

Up Close Realistic Paintings

Students created paintings using up close view points.  Realism and value were emphasized.

Non-Objective/Abstract 

Color Schemes

Students explored mixing colors and created Non-objective images using viewfinders and magazines.  Each image was painted in a specific color scheme: Analogous, Complementary, Triadic, Square, Rectangular and Split-Complementary 

Watercolor Color Wheel Mandalas

Students are learning about color theory by only using the primary colors, black and white.  Students created original radial designs and painted with watercolors to show the colors of the color wheel.

Mini Acrylic Paintings

Painting students create mini acrylic paintings demonstrating the use of 3D color or Realism, Monochromatic color (one color with tints & shades), Pure Color (flat or paint by number), and Black & white (value).  Subject matter included: person, place, object and student choice.

Patterned Portraits

Students used patterns as part of their portrait paintings.  Planning composition and style was emphasized.  

Painting Styles

Students researched one of the painting styles: Realism, Painterly, Impressionism, Expressionism, Fauvism, Abstract/Cubism or Surrealism.  After selecting the style of painting, each student created a painting of their choice in that particular style of art.
