Textural Trees

Paper-Mache Birds & Fish

Collage Self-Portraits

Students create collage portraits using magazines inspired by the artist,   Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  Arcimboldo was an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish and books. These works form a distinct category from his other productions 

Bug Series

Students explored a variety of art media & techniques: painting, embossing, drawing and printing.

Line Design Cacti

7th graders started the Semester by creating line design cacti inspired by artist: Matea Sinkivec

Self-Portrait Drawings

Students practiced drawing their own self-portraits and creating a visual personal story.

Painted Pet Portraits

Students learned about color theory and color schemes.  They chose their color scheme to create abstract pet portraits.

Tennis Shoe Design

Students created one of kind kicks!  Each student was given a shoe template to illustrate a new and creative shoe design.  

Georgia O'Keefe inspired Florals

Student learned about the Wisconsin female artist, Georgia O'Keefe and her up close flowers.  Students used oil pastels and ink to create a quilt design.

Recycled Cardboard Tube Mandalas

Students used recycled cardboard rolls and cut into 1/4 inch slices to create original radial designs.  Students used a variety of bending, folding, cutting and gluing to create one of a kind relief sculptures.

Line Letters

Students used the letter of their first or last name to create line doodles.

1 Point Perspective Names

Variety Trees

7th grade students explored a variety of drawing techniques and materials to create an interesting art styled tree.

Picasso & Sandra Silberzweig Faces

Students created cardboard relief cubistic faces inspired by Picasso and Sandra Silberzweig.  The faces were painted and lines, shapes, patterns and textures were applied.

Clay Dragon Eyes

Students created sculptural dragon eyes using clay and acrylic paints.

Up Close Dragon Eyes

Students created textured dragon eye drawings and used Prisma colored pencils and gel pens to add color, depth and value.

Wayne Theibaud inspired Cupcake Drawings

Students created observational cupcake drawings using oil pastels.  The students looked at the artwork of Wayne Theibaud and his tasty treat paintings.

Modern Mona Lisa Drawings

Students created drawings depicting the Mona Lisa in a different environment.  Creative imaginations!!!

Metal Tooling 

Texture Drawings

Students drew animals or creatures with implied texture.  These drawings were transferred onto metal foil to create an embossing texture.  Students also created a variety of textures using lines, value and line quality to show texture.

Cardboard Sculptures

Students created cardboard creatures inspired by the artist, Jacque Davis.  He is an artist from St. Louis, Missouri.  He primarily works digitally but loves to explore mixed media, embroidery & textiles.  The students explored a variety of mixed media techniques to make their unique sculptural creature. 

Clay Monster Pots

Students explored the properties and techniques working with earth clay.  Each student planned, sketched and created unique clay monsters inspired by artist,  James DeRosso.  These pots will be used to grow plants in their Agriculture class.  

Observational Shoe Drawings

Students explored ways to draw: contour, blind-contour, memory and observational.  Students used their observational skills to create a very detailed drawing of their shoe.

Peter Max inspired Paintings

Students looked at the artwork created by Peter Max.  Peter Max recaptured the spirit of the 1960's in some of his later work, bringing his stylized shapes and high intensity colors into the 21st century.
