Dear Jefferson Middle Parents/Guardians,
We are delighted to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! At Jefferson, we are all excited to have students filling our halls with energy and enthusiasm for learning. It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected, and a part of our Jefferson Middle School family. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
School Uniform, Lanyard w/ID, PE clothes, Materials for Class
Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and always try their best
Please consider joining one of our volunteer programs as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations. We seek volunteers for:
Parent Teacher Organization - Contact: Mrs. Mares
School Site Council - Contact: Mrs. McCormick
Band Booster - Contact: Mrs. Chang
Student Recognition Events - Contact: Mr. Trevino
Jefferson Middle continues to be a uniform school. This uniform requires that students wear a red or white shirt with black or khaki pants, their school lanyard (with visible ID photo), and bring their agenda daily. Uniforms and lanyards, with a visible ID, are critical to student and staff safety. This allows us to quickly identify students who belong on campus and those who are not a part of our Jaguar Nation. For those families who are unable to purchase uniforms for their students, please contact the school to find out about ways we can support your student.
Attached you will find a copy of our school rules so that you and your child can review them together. If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact our office. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. Please also feel free to review the Desert Sands Unified Parent Handbook.
