PRINCIPAL'S End-of-Year Letter

June 2019

Dear Shadow Hills High School Community,

As we celebrate the conclusion of another school year, I would like to thank each of you for your many contributions to Shadow Hills High School. The accomplishments and successes of the 2018-19 school year are due to the collective efforts of our Knight’s Family. Over the course of this year, we continued to increase our academic rigor, while also maintaining our positive relationships by celebrating many achievements such as:

  • The highest UC/CSU A-G course completion rate in the District
  • The highest number of Biliteracy Seal Diploma graduates in the District
  • One of highest percentages of students considered Prepared in the District, as measured by the California College & Career indicator
  • One of the highest numbers of Golden State Seal Merit Diploma graduates in the District
  • One of the highest number of Summa Cum Laude graduates in the District
  • The highest number of students submitting the FAFSA/CA Dream Act application in the Coachella Valley

Our Knight’s Community has come together and demonstrated why Shadow Hills High School is a great place to learn, and have your children attend. We have been there for one another celebrating our students, congratulating their successes, and having also comforted one another during difficult times.

Public education continues to provide many challenges that we embrace at Shadow Hills High School as opportunities. Our efforts are predicated on a model of continuous improvement, having the growth mindset necessary to fulfill our school’s vision of “developing critical thinkers who analyze the questions of today to create solutions for tomorrow.” This begins with our values, behaviors, and student learning outcomes that continue to focus on building a positive school culture.

Our collective commitment is to cultivate a community of learners by modeling what we expect of our students and one another as Knights demonstrating what it means when we say Knights Do It R.I.G.H.T

Respect - we show a high regard for self, others and property.

Integrity - we always have the moral courage to do what is right.

Greatness - we push past adversity to reach our full potential.

Honor - we value the principles of truth and honesty.

Teamwork - we are stronger when we work together to achieve our common goal.

We commit to these values in order to challenge and inspire each member of the school community to become more than they ever thought possible. We embrace the belief that to be the best, we must keep improving in order to prepare all of our students to be college, career and community ready. We are a team, a family and our students can count on all of us to do whatever it takes for every learner, every day.

As we take time over the summer to reflect, refresh, and relax, we do so with the confidence that the 2019-20 school year will be just as rewarding. We will learn from challenges and successes. We will grow stronger as a team to ensure that we make the greatest impact possible for all students. This is the Knight’s Way! It begins and ends with the best team of educators, administrators, support staff, and families. Have a great summer, and always remember that Knights Do It RIGHT!

In Partnership,

Mr. Gabriel P. Fajardo,
