The Basics

Hi! My name is Claudia Santos! I am the School Counselor at Ronald Reagan Elementary. This is my 14th year as an Elementary School Counselor, and i am excited to make 2021-22 our best year yet, despite the recent changes and uncertainties! We are Regal Eagles! We are RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, RESILIENT, RISK TAKERS!

My Childhood

I grew up in Bakersfield, California with my parents and younger brother. I had a love for music and played the violin in an Orchestra and Mariachi until the end of Middle School. I was lucky enough to build strong and healthy friendships that continue standing strong today. Such relationships were the foundation to feelings of safety and connectedness which paved the way to my academic success.

MY WHY

I believe that teaching students the power of identifying and expressing emotions in healthy ways is the foundation to academic, social and emotional growth. It is my goal to help students explore tools/strategies that will help them transition through change and adversity, as well as identifying and using effective problem solving techniques. I am a School Counselor because I am passionate about helping children find their inner voice, discover their strengths, and foster a growth mindset that will carry over to any situation.

MY COUNSELING PROGRAM

I have the privilege to work with all students through school wide activities and whole class lessons. I meet with parents, collaborate with staff and consult with community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of every Regal Eagle.

I also coordinate and supervise peer-mediators, cross-age tutors and offer 1:1 and small group counseling to students in need of support. In addition, I co-lead parent support classes, coordinate Student Support Team meetings, MTSS and 504 Plan meetings.

Enhancing the academic, and social/emotional development of all students is my greatest priority!

Counseling services continue to be available on an individual and group basis, in person or via Zoom (when required.) Counseling referrals can be done by your child' teacher, or by the legal parent/guardian. If your child is in need of school-based counseling, please send me an e-mail or schedule an appointment.

I invite you to navigate through the multiple tools and resources available on my webpage. This webpage will be updated periodically to support the social/emotional health of our Regal Eagles.
