Business Management

Students will learn industry recognized competencies in Business Management, Finance and Insurance. Core competencies include mastery of finance and related services, business management, career planning and employment preparation, salesmanship, security procedures, the various types of insurance instruments, privacy issues, legal principles, and state and federal regulations.

Courses include:

  • Introduction to Business ("g") [9-10]
  • Empowering Entrepreneurs ("g") [10-11]
  • Economics - Virtual Enterprise ("g") [12th]
  • Business Internship [12th]

Pathway courses satisfy the University of California subject requirements in College-preparatory elective (“g”). The intent of the “a-g” subject requirements is to ensure that students have attained a body of general knowledge that will provide breadth and perspective to new, more advanced study. Introduction to Business and Empowering Entrepreneurs are articulated with College of the Desert BUMA 10. Students have the option of seeking credit by exam.

Business Management consists of planning, leading, and controlling an organization or effort to accomplish a goal. In the Business Management pathway, students learn entrepreneurship and business fundamentals, goal-setting, resource allocation, organizational structure and management techniques, economics, financial data, risk management, information technology, and supply chain management.
