Louie Latosquin

Hello! My name is Louie and I am the President and Founder of the Filipino Young Leaders-Union Club (FYL-U Club). I founded the club to unite the notable demographic of Filipino American students at PDHS, along with any other students in fostering communal and cultural enrichment in the Fil-Am community.

The Process

By coordinating with other ambitious and talented Filipino American students such as Ricky Ho, John Alcantara, Lucas McCoy, and Natasha Gamboa, my fellow Fil-Am peers and I were able to create a fun and inclusive environment to inspire other students in their paths of becoming leaders.  Through memorable events such as initial leadership meetings and our Lumpia Munchfest, we were victorious in having such a collaborative and flourishing environment!

Final Reflection

Ultimately, I am proud in not only creating a club with an aim for the betterment of the Filipino American community, but I am also proud in our efforts in laying the footsteps for an evolving and emerging organization to be spread throughout the Coachella Valley. As the nation continues to become more diverse and competitive, it is imperative that the future posterity of Filipino Americans and non Fil-Ams are equipped with leadership skills in advancing the communal and societal goodwill.
