ABOUT ME
My name is Emma DeGregorio, and this ISP is what will complete my four-year career at the Derryfield School. Over the years, I have been a part of the field hockey team, enjoyed science driven classes such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, and the Diseases elective. My passion for the medical field has always been clear, and in addition to taking additonal classes, I have worked at a medical office for the past two years. After my depatrure from Derryfield, I will be taking a gap year, during which I plan to attend a Medical School Intensive program at John Hopkins University, as well as become an EMT. In 2021, I will venture over to the west coast, where I will begin my career at Santa Clara University, majoring in biochemistry.
Over the past five weeks, I have been working with multiple medical professionals to create a blog/website detailing the specifics of both their job, as well as what led to it. Even as a freshman, I knew that my ISP would revolve around medicine in some capacity. With my father being a physcian and my mother being a nurse praticioner, I've been surrounded by the medical field my entire life, and it has always been something that interested me. The trouble I faced was narrowing down what specialty and degree I was working towards. As I near the end of my ISP, I have interviewed mutiple M.Ds, P.As, N.Ps, and R.Ns working in a multitude of specialties. Working with an average of three professionals per week, I have curated a collection of interviews with the purpose of shedding light on the specifics of certain jobs. I hope that my website and my interview summaries can help guide people who are intereted in medicine but are unsure of either the path they want to follow, or the steps they need to take to get there.
