Barangka Elementary School

General Julian Cruz St., Barangka, Marikina City

History

Barangka Elementary School began as an annex of Jesus Dela Peña Elementary School when three extension classes were opened on September 2, 1948. There were only three (3) teachers at that time and classes were housed in rented buildings near the school site.

In 1950, Mrs. Luz Manares was appointed as a teacher-in-charge. In the same year, a two-room building was built. It was then named Barangka Barrio School. Classes were from Grades 1 - 4. The student population grew bigger with Mr. Oscar Dela Paz as the designated teacher-in-charge

A Magsaysay-Pre-Fab building was built to accommodate more classes. Due to an influx of workers in the nearby factories, the population of the school grew tremendously.

In 1960, there were already thirteen (13) teachers. Another building called Rodriguez Building was erected. Mrs. Aurora Salvador was the principal until 1970. For two years, the school had no principal and was under Miss Nora Utchingco's leadership. Below is the list of school heads from 1980 to the present time.

The Marcy Teodoro three-story building, which is situated in the said school, was constructed during the term of  Mrs. Lourdes L. Larios.
