Provide a conceptual model or introduce the research paradigm showing the interrelationships of the variables. Illustrate the objectives of the research process and map out how they come together to draw coherent solutions/production/artistic genres. A discussion of the conceptual model will be provided to explain the interrelationships of the variables in the study.
1. Input
Theoretical Framework: Constructivism Theory, which posits that individuals actively construct their understanding of the world through experiences and social interactions. This study will explore how the local artist’s success story and motivations are constructed and interpreted, both by the artist herself and by the researchers, through the artistic process.
Subject: A local artist from Santa Barbara, Iloilo, a 40-year-old woman living with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC), whose journey and motivations will be studied to understand how these elements contribute to her success in the arts.
Context: The local culture of Santa Barbara, Iloilo, and the social and personal challenges and triumphs that define the artist’s life and work.
Materials: Data collected through interviews, observations, and surveys, alongside acrylic paint and canvas to be used in the creation of the painting.
2. Process
Data Collection:
Interviews/Surveys with the Artist: The artist will provide insights into her motivations, challenges, and experiences that have shaped her journey, particularly how she has overcome obstacles related to her condition and how these influences manifest in her art.
Observational Data: The researchers will observe the artist's artistic process, environment, and interactions to better understand the contextual factors shaping her work.
Narrative Analysis: Researchers will analyze the artist’s success story and motivations, focusing on themes such as perseverance, community support, identity, and the role of her disability in shaping her perspective and art.
Creation of the Acrylic Painting:
The researchers, using the data gathered from the artist, will construct a visual representation of her journey and motivations. The painting will incorporate symbolic elements, colors, and imagery that reflect the key themes of her story, including the impact of AMC on her life, her triumphs over adversity, and the cultural context of Santa Barbara.
Constructivism is reflected in the researchers' interpretation and construction of meaning through the painting, as they will integrate the artist's narrative and personal experiences into the visual artwork.
3. Output
Acrylic Painting: An acrylic painting created by the researchers that encapsulates the motivations and success story of the local artist. The artwork will serve as a visual interpretation of the data gathered, reflecting the artist’s personal journey, achievements, and resilience.
Symbolic Representation: The painting will include specific symbols, motifs, and visual elements that are representative of the artist’s life and achievements, as told through her own story.
4. Outcome
Interpretation of the Artwork: The painting will be analyzed to understand how the artist’s motivations and success story are depicted. The symbolic elements will be linked back to the themes of perseverance, overcoming adversity, and cultural identity.
Public and Critical Reception: The artwork may be displayed for public viewing, offering the local community a chance to engage with the artist's narrative and reflect on themes of resilience, success, and personal growth.
Cultural and Educational Value: The painting will serve as an educational tool that sheds light on the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and the role of art in overcoming personal limitations, highlighting the artist’s significance within the local art scene.

Conceptual Framework
The production study Kurit sang Kadalag-an: An Acrylic Painting on Canvas Depicting the Building Blocks Behind the Local Artist’s Success illustrates the key factors that contributed to the success of a local artist with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita. Grounded in the principles of self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan, 1985), the conceptual framework highlights the interplay of autonomy, competence, and connection in fostering motivation and achievement.
Autonomy reflects the artist’s ability to take control of her creative journey despite physical limitations, demonstrating resilience and self-direction. Competence represents her skill development and mastery, which played a crucial role in building her confidence and refining her artistic abilities. Connection signifies the influence of external support systems, including mentors, peers, and the broader artistic community, in reinforcing her passion and perseverance (Deci & Ryan, 2000). These three elements collectively nurtured the artist’s intrinsic motivation, ultimately leading to success.
By visually interpreting these building blocks, the acrylic painting serves as both an artistic expression and a conceptual representation of how self-determination and motivation interact in overcoming adversity. This study, therefore, underscores the importance of psychological needs in personal and professional growth, particularly in the context of individuals with disabilities striving for excellence in their respective fields.
