In a collective effort to eradicate violence against women and children, the teaching and non-teaching personnel of PNSB convened at the PNSB Conference Hall for a crucial commitment renewal.
Mrs. Ma. Elena Carino, the School Social Worker, delivered a concise yet comprehensive lecture on two pivotal laws aimed at safeguarding women. The discourse focused on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 and the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995. Dr. Lennie Maneja, the Gender and Development (GAD) focal person, further enlightened the audience on the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.
This initiative aligns with Proclamation 1172 s. 2006, which designates the period from November 25 to December 12 as the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW). Additionally, Republic Act 10398 (2013) declares November 25 of every year as National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children, supporting the global movement to end VAW.
The event served as a call to action for every member of the institution, irrespective of gender or ability, to deepen their understanding of the issue and kindle compassion within themselves. The aim is to ensure that no one within the institution would engage in, tolerate, or turn a blind eye to violence against women.
Under the theme "VAW-free community Starts with Me," the 18-Day campaign urges all participants to commit to ending violence against women in their respective institutions and communities.
The program concluded with a resolute message from Mrs. Corazon B Salvador, the agency's GAD Head, who has been a strong supporter of this initiative.
