There are also professionals, technicians, operators, craft and related workers employed in the municipality of Dauin and nearby municipalities/cities.
The school can be accessed by land transportation from the national road through crossing Lipayo or from poblacion Dauin via barangay Panubtuban or barangay Casile. It can be reached by motor vehicle among others, but the most common means of means of transportation in the area is the “habal-habal”-a localized term for a motorcycle modified to seat more than two persons.
ABAMHS-SHS is a Stand-alone School situated in a new site separated from the Junior High School. It is headed by Head Teacher I Mr. Roland S. Parol and currently has four female Senior High School teachers.
With the total number of 67 Senior High School enrolment, ABAMHS is looking forward for an increase in the number of enrollees for the next years to come. This can be achieved by offering different courses and improving the school facilities which includes acquiring facilities to support the courses. The school currently has a newly-constructed four-story laboratory building. However, there are also hindering factors to achieve the projected enrollment per year. This could be the transfer of residence of the students and employment due to low economic status.
As of the moment, ABAMHS is offering Bread and Pastry Production, Food and Beverage Services, and Bartending for Home Economics Strand. For Information and Communications Technology strand, the school is offering Computer Systems Servicing.
ABAMHS promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development and implementation of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community. The school is looking forward to produce graduates that are prepared for the future, be it in pursuit of higher education or acquisition of middle-level skills, or geared towards employment or entrepreneurship.
One part of the Senior High School curriculum is the work immersion which consists of 240-hour hands-on experience to expose the Senior High School learners to the actual workplace setting. Prior to deploying the learners to the actual workplace, several preparations were made for the past school years. The school looked for partner industries (which participated in the MOA signing) that can help in enhancing the learners’ knowledge and skills acquired from the school. The school conducted a Work Immersion Orientation which was participated by the parents and the learners. The Senior High School Department also let the learners prepare resume and application letters and conducted mock interview. It was done to let the learners experience the job application situation. Feedbacks and coaching on their interviewing weaknesses were also provided. The students were also required to make a work immersion portfolio. This event had marked a significant development and achievement of ABAMHS Senior High School.
The work immersion was not only the highlight of the Senior High School. Antonio B. Alejado Memorial High School-SHS Department made sure that the learners will graduate with National Certificate II. All of the Grade 12 students proved that they were equipped with the skills as they all graduated with National Certificate II.
Apolinar B. Macias Memorial High School
The name of the school is APOLINAR B. MACIAS MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL (ABMMHS). It has begun its operation in June 1994, with the name Casile Community High School since it is located in Barangay Casile. As per Resolution No. 00-108 and Ordinance No. 3-2000 dated December 15, 2000, the school has been renamed in recognition of Apolinar B. Macias the father of Mr. Joseph T. Macias, the donor.
Apolinar B. Macias Memorial High School, Senior High School, is an integrated school located at Barangay Casile, Dauin, Negros Oriental. It is located 5 kilometers from the national road. The primary means of transportation is “habal-habal” or a motorcycle which can accommodate at least 5 passengers. As estimated, 50 percent of the population in the said barangay rely on farming, 20 percent on business expenditures, 20 percent on livestock and hog raising and the remaining 10 percent on employment on private and public establishments. The school administrator is designated as officer-in-charge which started on June 15, 2017 and later on as teacher-in-charge on July 10, 2017.
The senior high school of Apolinar B. Macias Memorial High School is offering Technical-Vocational course major in Computer Systems and Servicing. The school’s enrolment decreased due to limited offering of courses. The course do not fit on the students’ interest. From 25 students enrolled in Grade 10, school year 2016-2017, the enrolment decreased to 22 which is reflected on the Grade 11 enrolment for the school year 2017-2018. For the consecutive years, the expected increase of enrolment is 2 percent. In the school year 2017 to 2018, the total senior high school enrolment is 54. The improvement of instruction, school facilities and school activities are the facilitating factors that will contribute to the increase of enrolment. On the other hand, the hindering factors of the projected enrolment are less effective instruction, lack of facilities especially computers which will be used on student’s major subjects and depreciated support coming from the stake holders. The school has one trained and specialized teacher in ICT. However, it will not be enough for the next two years. The school should have one or more additional qualified teacher to teach ICT to ensure the quality of instruction and to produced well equipped students with skills in line with their major of specialization. The school have 2 regular classrooms and 1 unique TVL-workshop yet are not enough because the TVL-workshop is not designed for an ICT laboratory. It also has 1 computer laboratory with 10 computers and is only intended for Junior High School. During the second semester, the students are obliged to undergo on the work immersion program. Prior to that, students are exposed to different activities such as orientation of parents and students on work immersion matters, career guidance counseling and extra and co-curricular activities that will develop students’ self-confidence, skills and capabilities.
Dauin National High School
Dauin National High School (DNHS) was originally known as Dauin Municipal High School (DMHS). The school name did not undergo changes since the start of its operation until 2006 when communications from the higher office was received stating the name of the school as Dauin National High School.
In July, 1969, Atty. Gibson Araula, the incumbent Municipal Mayor at that time, in collaboration with the late Congressman Lamberto L. Macias tried, but failed, to convince Bishop EpifanioSurban to allow the Recollect Order to establish a high school to be managed by the parish priest using the lot in front of the church as a school site, the eastern portion of Dauin Central School and the northern part of the land owned by the municipal government.
In the pursuit of having a high school in the municipality, the municipal council passed a resolution requesting the Secretary of the Department of Education to establish a secondary school in the Municipality of Dauin. Initially, an amount of ten thousand pesos was appropriated for teachers’ salary. Mr. Jose Cepe, the elementary school Principal II, submitted the pertinent papers to the Secretary of Education thru channels with the attached Municipal Council’s Resolution, prospective number of first year enrollees, and the available number of Marcos type buildings to be used as classrooms. As a result, the application was approved in March 1970, thus marking it as the Dauin Municipal High School Founders’ Day.
Dauin Municipal High School opened its doors in July, 1970. Mr. Jose Cepe was appointed as assistant principal. Mr. Julitre Villariza, Miss Yostilla Matuod, Mrs. Nelly Montenegro and Mrs. Caluyo were the only teachers permanently teaching the 280 students at the start. After a year, the teachers’ salaries were nationally paid at Php 212.00 per month/per teacher thereby relieving the municipal government of its needed funds.
As the student population grew in the succeeding years, the need of teachers also increased. With the growing number of teachers, DMHS was progressively headed and administered by Mr. Jose Cepe, and then the succeeding school administrators followed, who collaboratively exerted their efforts for the improvement of the school.
They are; Mr. Ambrosio Yucor, Mr. Julitre Villariza as Teacher-in-charge, Mr. Julian Tornandizo, Secondary School Principal II, Mrs. Celedoña Z. Notarte, Secondary School Principal II, Mr. Narciso R. Trumata, Head Teacher III, Mrs. Denma K. Kinkito, Secondary School Principal II, and Mrs. Carmelita A. Alcala, Principal II, and Mr. Joelou M. Aguirre, Principal I (at present).
The school heads have utilized fully the Parents Teachers Association as a Human Resource. They have outstandingly achieved urgently needed projects for the general welfare of the students, teachers and parents under the percept of true partnership as embodied in the Constitution and by-laws of DNHS-PTA. In addition, they have successfully linked with the Municipal Government headed by the former Mayors and the present Mayor Hon. Neil B. Credo for the various on-going infrastructure projects and financing of the school. They have also intensified the strong partnership between the school and outside stakeholders.

Dauin Science High School
The future of our country depends on today’s young generation. Educating the youth is the most important factor towards national development. The aim to give better opportunities to intellectually blessed students but could not afford the expensive tuition fees of private schools encouraged the opening of the school. The establishment of Dauin Science High School was made possible by the LGU with the strong leadership of the former Municipal Mayor Hon. Rodrigo A. Alanano, SB Members and the former principal of the mother high school and now Division Education Program Supervisor and District Consultant, Dr. Carmelita A. Alcala.
Education Act of 1992, section 3 states that “the state shall promote the right of individual to relevant quality education, regardless of sex, age, creed, socio-economic status, physical and mental condition, social and ethnic origin, political, or other affiliations. The state shall therefore promote and maintain access to quality education by all its citizens.” Quality education therefore, should be made available to every citizen in a democratic country not only for the average individuals but also for the gifted and highly talented.
Moreover, DECS order no. 69, s. 1993 encourages the establishment of Science High Schools to provide a secondary education that will foster the minds of the young on the problem solving approach of critical thinking to face the challenges of the modern times.
There are intellectually promising and deserving students of Dauin who have the abilities to solve problems and capability to think critically. A good foundation in their high school years to develop fully their potentials in Science, Math and English is needed. Their training in a Science High School can make them builders, inventors, or scientists and future leaders of our country.
The school has been doing its duty in providing quality education to equally competitive children of its generation. For twelve years now, it has shown and proved competence and reliance through its students who have given great mark in the history of competitions and have been performing well in their scholastic endeavors after high school.
Currently, the senior high school department of DSHS is offering STEM Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. For the past years, the STEM students of DSHS have been winning in division & regional science & technology fairs.
