Project CASCADE ( CAmpaign for SoCial Awareness and Deeper Empathy)
Division Memorandum 51, s.2020 otherwise known as Institutionalized Special Education (SPED) Activities listed down the institutionalized monthly celebrations intended for the different exceptionalities to be observed in schools. The celebrations intend to instill and promote public awareness in SPED and the idea of their inclusion in our community. Instead of conducting monthly programs and spending money for tarpaulins, digital advocacy materials are made and published in the school’s social media accounts monthly. The advocacy materials are carefully designed to introduce what each disability is all about and celebrate the progress of the children enrolled in the school so others may be inspired and may view LSEN with positive perception instead of discrimination. Additionally, the project also aims to show the public the various efforts the school is doing to provide quality and inclusive basic education.
Project LSEN (Learner Support and Educational Nourishment)
This project aims to target the LSEN’s individualized educational needs and help them and their parents cope with the challenges brought by the suspension of live interaction in school. It is a way to ensure that their learning and development continuously happen even when they are at home, and inside the activity sheets are simple and clear instructions that parents can easily understand for ease of delivery. The videos are concise but goes direct to what should be learned. The adapted picture books are carefully selected, and some are attached with sign language translation so LSEN with hearing impairment may also read them. This project is also initiated to encourage parents and other stakeholders to be involved in the educational content and accessibility of resources for children with special needs enrolled in the school. The goal will always be to cater to the educational needs of LSEN and cultivate the culture of inclusion in the community.
Project SPED (Support towards PWD Empowerment and Development)
The project is focus on strengthening existing partnership and establishing potentials ones, while also acquiring access to different resources for the benefit of LSEN enrolled in Bagay Elementary School. The project is meant to celebrate the lives and exceptionalities of each learners, and make the public understand that given the appropriate interventions, they can live meaningful lives. It is also meant to empower and support the parents/ guardians to continuously champion for equal rights and opportunities for their children.
