Aparri Cagayan is famous for its natural wonders and the impressive Cagayan River. It also boasts of many historical landmarks.

In this beautiful town of Aparri ,you will discover treasures of our heritage, a place perched just at the edge of heaven. Barangay Minanga is one kilometer south of Aparri.

At General Luna Street stands a pre-historic building situated in 2,795 square meters lot. The property was then owned by Tabacalera. It was made up of sturdy, stormy walls and a wooden frame pitch roof built in 1897.

According to the old folks of Minanga, the building served as a Hispanic parish,not only as principal units of ecclessiastical organization, but also the main social unit for much of the rural life in Hispanic time. Because of the intimate daily role, the parish then played ( and in many areas still plays), its registers usually provide the most extensive and accurate glimpse into the lives of one's Spanish ancestors. For centuries, the registers of Hispanic parishes have reflected the lives of even the poorest laborers in tiny villages throughout Spain and Latin America. Baptism soon after birth, marriages, deaths, occurences and national events are all found in these registers, folks narrated

Spanish records show that the building was erected in the 18th century. Those of Spain have been described by Gerald Hamilton Edwards as " fullest in Europe or of any country in the world" of which "Tabacalera" of Minanga, Aparri is one.

In 1959, transformation took place. The generous owner of the " Tabacalera" donated his property to the Local Government of Barangay Minanga ,Aparri Cagayan. The facade was restored and the interiors were converted into several classrooms, now known to the people as Minanga Elementary School.

The beginning of new hopes and brighter future for the children of Minanga Elementary School. It has already served thousands of learners since its conversions to a school building. It created miracles, having been the builder of engineers, attorneys, accountants, and OFWs who in return gave full support to the school, making it excel in physical evaluation as well as in academics.

Hence, the antiquity of Minanga Elementary School spells the difference in the town of Aparri perched just at the edge of heaven.
