The ERDB Tissue Culture Laboratory provides support in the conduct of vegetative propagation (in vitro or tissue culture) as an important tool in tree improvement programs for mass propagating elite trees of many forest tree species.
The laboratory provides support to ERDB technical divisions and Research, Development, and Extension Centers (RDECs), National Greening Program (NGP), other government agencies and academe through extending technical assistance and services regarding tissue culture of forest tree species and preparation of growth hormones
The Tissue Culture Laboratory generally comprises: glassware washing area, storage room, media preparation and sterilization room, inoculation room, primary growth or culture room and an office.
A greenhouse is also required for hardening and acclimatizing the plantlets produced in the laboratory
