An Introduction to ADHD
The Child Mind Institute offers short articles about ADHD, its assessment, and its treatment. They also offer sections on special topics, like:
How ADHD can change across development,
How ADHD can manifest differently in girls and boys, and
How to parent a child with ADHD.
Their "Complete Guide to ADHD Medications" provides an excellent introduction to the most commonly prescribed medications.
The Executive Dysfunction Model of ADHD
The textbook describes Russell Barkley's model for ADHD, which is based on delays in executive functioning. These delays can lead to problems with behavioral inhibition and the overt signs and symptoms of ADHD. In this short video, Barkley explains his model.
Vanderbilt ADHD Diagnostic Rating Scale (VADRS)
The VADRS is an evidenced-based rating ADHD rating scale for children aged 6 to 12 years. It can be administered to parents or teachers. Items correspond to the DSM-5-TR symptoms of ADHD. The VADRS also includes subscales that can be used to screen for oppositional defiant disorder, anxiety and depressive symptoms, and functional limitations.
