Students recall the structure of an atom and identify isotopes by comparing atomic mass and number of different atoms. Students learn about radioactive decay and compare the changes in the nuclei of atoms and the impact of the decay to the surrounding materials. They will then go on to study nuclear fission and nuclear fusion and how these processes are used to provide energy in a nuclear power station
