OVERVIEW

Use the particle model to predict the behaviour of solids, liquids and gases and explain a wide range of observations such as heating and cooling, high pressures and temperatures etc. Students calculate and relate the specific heat capacity and specific latent heat of substances to their uses.

Students recall the structure of an atom and identify isotopes by comparing atomic mass and number of different atoms. Students learn about radioactive decay and compare the changes in the nuclei of atoms and the impact of the decay to the surrounding materials.
