OVERVIEW

Foundation:

Perimeter, area and volume: Students will learn how to calculate the perimeter and area of 2D shapes. Calculate the surface area and volume of prisms, cylinders, cones, spheres and pyramids.

Graphs: Students will learn how to plot coordinates in all quadrants. Draw and interpret linear graphs. Calculate the gradient and y intercept of a linear graph. Understand and find the equation of a linear graph. Draw and interpret real-life graphs. Use distance-time graphs to solve problems.

Charts and graphs can easily be manipulated to apparently show almost any desired result and so great care must be taken when reading them.

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER (CROSS CURRICULAR)

Scatter plots, bar graphs, and line graphs are the most commonly used graphs in science. Graphs are a common method to visually illustrate relationships in the data. Geographers and historians have many tools, such as graphs, for presenting information visually. Graphs make it easier to compare facts and see the relationships between them.
