OVERVIEW

Students will learn about human geography through the study of population at a global scale. Learning about how global population numbers have changed ,the reasons behind these changes and the impact these changes have had.

Students will complete a wider reading with comprehension question homeworks along with teacher led and whole class reading on the following articles:

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER (CROSS CURRICULAR)

Maths - Students will study how to interpret line graphs and how to calculate percentages. Students will also construct population pyramids and learn how to interpret and present the data in those pyramids

SAFEGUARDING

Bereavement and loss. Students will be learning about bereavement and loss and the members of the safeguarding team will be shown in case of any student experiencing bereavement

Age of consent in the UK. Birth rates are mentioned and the differences in birth rate explored between a developing and developed country.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Students will encounter people in different professions in this topic therefore it will be useful for teachers to describe careers as much as possible.
