Students will develop an understanding of responding to a text critically and in detail, using textual evidence as appropriate. They will read, understand and analyse the language, form and structure considering the 19th century context in which the texts were written.
Students will have opportunities to read for meaning and understand the contextual knowledge (19th Century). They will develop their writing skills through evaluation and language analysis using writing frames such as SEIZE/SCITTLES. This will include utilising language devices (metaphors, similes, personification, pathetic fallacy) and concepts such as allegory, allusion.
Author - students having been exposed to various writing styles will be able to identify their own writing style and thereby create their own fictional stories.
Students will develop an insightful understanding of the 19th Century literature (Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre) and concepts of capitalism and socialism.
