Students will understand the conventions of play writing, and develop an understanding of analysing in detail using textual evidence. They will read, understand and analyse the language, form and structure used by the playright considering the Early 20th century context.
Students will have opportunities to read for meaning and understand the contextual knowledge (Early 20th century). They will develop their writing skills through evaluation and language analysis using writing frames such as SEIZE/SCITTLES. This will include utilising language devices (metaphors, similes, personification, pathetic fallacy) and concepts such as allegory, allusion.
Journalist - students will understand the construction of how this works and utilise them in their own speech and playwriting.
Students will develop an insightful understanding of the early 20th Century literature, and concepts of capitalism and socialism.

Students will explore the concept of social responsibility, recognising emotions and attributing them to certain characters and situations. Understanding the concepts of good and evil, socialism and capitalism, politics and gender and class inequalities.
Analytical skills shared across subjects such as History and RE, character relationships go hand in hand with citizenship lessons as well as Drama.
