This unit covers the beginnings of Rights and Responsibilities. It aims to enable students to think about the rights and responsibilities that underpin the British Society alongside their own rights and responsibilities. This unit will begin to look at where laws come from.

Reading a variety of current affairs stories in the media from a variety of perspectives. Students must read articles from a newspaper (both broadsheet and tabloid) daily. This enables students to stay up to date with worldly events.
LGBTQ+,Racism, Sexism, Discrimination, Abuse, Peer on Peer, Sexual offences, Marriage, Forced marriage.
This unit develops spirituality in pupils as will explore the world around them and where they fit into the world. This will be through the study of human rights and child rights alongside the protection of these. Students will develop morality through the study of Human Rights and whether a right is absolute or non-absolute.
Students will also apply the idea of individual liberty when studying Human Rights as one right may contravene another. Students will have to engage with the laws around the UDHR, ECHR, Humanitarian Law and the Magna Carta.
Social and cultural skills will be developed through the debate of human rights, child rights and humanitarian laws. In the context of British values pupils also display mutual tolerance and respect when considering different viewpoints about human rights and child rights when they may be polar opposite to their own views.
