Guidelines for Private-Duty Nursing Services

The needs of some students with medical problems may need to be addressed through private duty nurses (PDN’s). The following describes the protocol to be followed if a PDN will be accompanying a child at school:

Agreement to Permit Certain Private Nursing Services on District Property

1. The family should go online and download the Agreement to Permit Private Duty Nursing Services on District Property parent agreement for execution and review the online DVISD Private Duty Nursing Services Roles & Responsibilities document.

2. The agency providing private duty nursing services should download the agency agreement for execution. The student’s current medical plan of care should be emailed to health.services@delvalle-isd.org.

3. The PDN(s) assigned to work with the student should go to the DVISD Human Resources Job Listings and apply for a ‘Contracted Personnel/Mentor & Student Support’ position. After completing this application, the PDN must review the ‘DVISD Private Duty Nursing Services Roles and Responsibilities’ document.

4. The agency should email the signed Agreement to Permit Private Duty Nursing Services on District Property agency agreement to health.services@delvalle-isd.org.

5. The parent should email the signed Agreement to Permit Private Duty Nursing Services on District Property parent agreement to health.services@delvalle-isd.org. If the parent encounters difficulty emailing the document, they may bring the document to the Del Valle ISD Superintendent’s office located at 5301 Ross Road, Del Valle, 78617.
