Mrs. Sandi Jackson
Warm Greetings!
Welcome to the beginning of your child's school experience here at Ocean Air Elementary! My name is Sandi Jackson and I look forward to working with you and your child this school year. We are going to have a rewarding year together making new friends and learning new things! This is my twenty first year of teaching Kindergarten in the Del Mar Union School District. Prior, I taught in the Hope School District in Santa Barbara, the Ontario School District and the Savannah School District in Buena Park. In the beginning of my career, I taught grades fourth, third and second; however the majority of my career has been teaching the wonderful grade of Kindergarten.
Born and raised in Orange County, I received my bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and then obtained my multiple-subject teaching credential from the California State University, Fullerton. I am happily married and have two young adult children. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, trying out new recipes, reading, walking my dogs and playing word games.

What to Expect in Kindergarten
I believe that all children have an intrinsic curiosity to learn. My goal is to provide opportunities for my students to grow and develop their thinking and learning skills to their full potential. I feel fortunate to work in a district that continually provides training for me to maximize these teaching practices. Throughout this year in Kindergarten, your child will be provided numerous opportunities to grow in his/her social emotional skills through our Second Steps program, develop number sense and critical thinking skills through CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) when solving math story problems, and use thinking strategies to express their thoughts throughout all curricular areas.
