The School with A Heart!
Step Into to 3rd Grade!
Hello everyone!
I'm Lindsay Bullis, and I'm thrilled to be your child's 3rd grade teacher this year! Allow me to share a bit about my background.
I completed my undergraduate studies in Minnesota before relocating to beautiful San Diego- about 25 years ago! After that, I attended graduate school at San Diego State University, earning an additional reading specialist credential.
My professional journey includes 23 rewarding years with the Del Mar School District, and I'm excited to be starting my third year at Carmel Del Mar! Throughout my career in Del Mar, I've had the pleasure of teaching multiple grade levels including kindergarten, second, third, and fourth grades. For the past decade, I've primarily focused on third and fourth grade education. I also gained valuable experience teaching first grade during a year spent in Portland, Oregon.
I'm looking forward to an exceptional year in 3rd grade with your children! We have so many exciting learning opportunities ahead of us.

What to expect in 3rd Grade:
Get ready, third graders! This year in math, we will learn about place value, problem solving with addition and subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, geometry, area, and perimeter. Wow! In Social Studies, we'll explore San Diego history! Our science topics include weather, seasons, motion, balance, magnets, animals, and life cycles! In language arts, we will read many stories and nonfiction texts. We'll also continue to write narratives, opinion pieces, and informational essays. We have an exciting year of learning ahead!
My Philosophy and My Classroom...
Inside of my classroom, I work to create a supportive and productive learning environment for each child. My goal is to create opportunities for learners to collaborate, demonstrate compassion, and explore. Independence is critical this year, as we focus on student agency and teach students how to make choices that promote their learning. We will also use a lot of technology to enhance our learning experiences. I will make every effort to provide a learning environment that is motivating, safe, and fun! I believe in the importance of innovation, encouraging students to take risks, making mistakes and learning from them, asking questions, and sharing wild ideas! Students amaze me with their thinking, creativity, discoveries, and insights, and I can't wait to see what we discover together this year!
In my time outside of the classroom, I often can be found outside in nature. I love hiking, rock climbing, camping, and traveling. My sweet dog Loki gets me outside, too, most often for long walks in the neighborhood or at the park. I also really treasure those times I get to go out for dinner and spending time with friends. Most importantly, I love sharing it all with my incredible little boy, who is five and a half already and so much fun! He will be in kindergarten this year and it will be an exciting year for him, too.
