Dear Families,
My name is Bianca Garoutte (Guh-root), and I'm thrilled to be returning to CDM to teach 5th grade this year, collaborating with an excellent team.
I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of La Verne in 2019, receiving a B.A. in Education. My experience as an instructional aide and substitute teacher in DMUSD further inspired my commitment to a full-time teaching career.
In 2021, I earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of San Diego, along with dual credentials to teach multiple subjects and special education.
I'm incredibly excited to welcome my room 302 class family and continue our learning journey together! I can't wait to meet you!

Educational Philosophy:
I believe in establishing meaningful, personal connections with my students and tailoring my teaching approach to meet their individual needs. My goal is to provide a well-rounded, rich, and engaging learning environment that challenges and holistically supports all of my students. I aim to nurture the growth of empathetic problem-solvers, change-makers, and critical thinkers.
What to expect in 5th Grade:
As a teacher, I like to cultivate an environment where my students feel safe, empowered, important, supported, appropriately challenged, and nurtured. I do this by creating a strong class community where students have agency and are able to have fun while collaborating. In my classroom, students are encouraged to be curious, make connections, take risks, try new things, be a part of a team, and find joy in learning. I will be working closely with the wonderful 5th grade CDM team this year to create engaging learning opportunities!
I look forward to meeting all of my students and families as we kick off the 2025-2026 school year!

As a San Diego native, I love spending time outdoors—whether it’s at the beach, golfing, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, or playing Pickleball!
When I’m not soaking up the sunshine, you’ll likely find me with family and friends, walking my dog Millie, exploring new travel destinations, or experimenting with fun new recipes in the kitchen.
