Is your child "school ready"?
Office of School Readiness defines school readiness as a condition whereby children enter school with:
• an enthusiasm for learning,
• an ability to function in a a social setting,
• age-appropriate communication and problem solving skills,
• age-appropriate physical and emotional skills, and
• optimal health.
Pre-K in DeKalb County can help get your child "school ready":)
The Pre-K Program in DeKalb County began with one classroom at Plainview in 2013. We now have 12 classrooms across the county and hope to grow! There is as least one classroom in every school community (with the exception of Moon Lake and Sylvania). In these classrooms, students are engaged in learning activities that foster creativity, imagination, and appropriate social/emotional skills. Kindergarten teachers love to have our pre-k graduates come to their classrooms ready-set-go to learn!
Research tells us that 92% of the brain develops by the age of 5. Pre-K provides ideal conditions to foster early childhood experiences that prepare children for school success and lifelong learning.
