why arts integration for wes?
This project will engage students with integrated, meaningful opportunities for arts exploration that are not feasible within the regular school model. It will develop essential skills including collaboration, creative thinking, tool use, integration of multiple modalities of learning, communication, and critical thinking. The students will gain not only art appreciation, but learn how the arts can be integrated into their school experience, and in life.
All students at WES will be participating in a wonderful Arts Integration project this January through March entitled Spectaculous Metamorphosis. Students will have the opportunity to work with three different artists including a visual artist, musician, and dancer! The work the students are doing will culminate at our Fine Arts Night on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at WES. The evening will include performances by our students, sharing of visual art, and a Spectaculous Metamorphosis dance.
Thank you to WPTO for funding this project and for Findorff for donating the building materials for our art installation!
The life cycle of the butterfly
The focus of our project is the life cycle of a butterfly. And this project is named for how our students transform "Spectaculous Metamorphosis." Just as a butterfly transforms and changes, so do our students at WES. They are constantly learning, changing, and evolving their thinking. We want our students to understand this connection, as they learn and grow through their years at Windsor Elementary.
