Sneak peek at some tunes for Friday night. Rock out and have fun!
"Let's Go Surfing" by The Drums. Because we like surfing. Srsly.
"Anything, Anything" by Dramarama. Marriage-themed rock song by New Jersey band from Steve's college days.
"Hello" by Martin Solveig. This song was HUGE when Olivia & Steve first met.
Play Hard by David Guetta, Ne-Yo & Akon. Work hard, play hard... Perfect song for HK life! (New York, too!)
"What Does the Fox Say" by Ylvis. It's ridiculous but catchy.
"Marry You" by Bruno Mars. Come on, you already expected this one.
"Unbelievable" by EMF. Hit song from 1991. Tom Jones did his version 1999.
"Suspicious Minds" by Elvis. Relax, just 1 or 2 Elvis songs all night. Hang in there.
"Banquet" by Bloc Party. Simple, upbeat party song. More music should be like this.
"Higher Ground" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. This Stevie Wonder cover makes you feel good (or you're wrong).
"Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon. Steve's "go to" karaoke song. Olivia doesn't even cover her ears.
"Cotton Eye Joe" by Rednex. Admit it: You know this song. You may not know the band is Swedish.
"Blue" by Eiffel 65. The later it is, the more you'll like this song. Unless you don't drink...
"My Life Would Suck Without You" by Kelly Clarkson. Olivia is pretty sure Steve feels this way about his new bride.
"Take on Me" by A-Ha. If you don't know this song, you didn't listen to English/American music 1986-1990.
"I See You Baby" by Groove Armada. Dancing is pretty much mandatory when you hear this.
"Groove Is In The Heart" by Deee-Lite. Another classic dance song from 1990.
"Rocket Man" by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Cover of Elton John song... Add oil... Add more oil... ALL THE OIL!!
"Sweet Caroline" by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Another hard-rocking cover, this time Neil Diamond's 1969 classic.
"Infinity" by Guru Josh Project. Played in Dubai so often 2008-2009 that expats thought it was the UAE National Anthem.
"Alone" by Marshmello. This song comes on after 11pm, when you just need a good beat more than lyrics.
"Melt with You" by Modern English. You don't need to be English (or modern) to enjoy this.
"Memories" by David Guetta & Kid Cudi. Because the night is all about making memories. (BTW - Drink responsibly!)
"White Wedding" by Billy Idol. Hey, it is a wedding, right?
"Brimful Of Asha" by Cornershop. It's something different. Go with it.
"Always on My Mind" by Pet Shop Boys. Consider it romantic, or something.
"Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Good song, good message. Don't stop me now, because I'm having a good time.
"I Took a Pill in Ibiza" by Mike Posner. OMG an actual new song from last year!
"Jump Around" by House of Pain. Hard to explain if you've never heard it. It mentions Sega (presumably Genesis system).
"I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap Trick. Best song ever for singing in the shower.
"I Love It" by Icona Pop. Catchy pop song with about 5 repeating lyrics that are easy to memorize.
"Wake Me Up" by Avicii. This link has 1.3 billion views. If you haven't heard this, where have you been?
"Levels" by Avicii. Almost as popular. Maybe even better.
"Summer" by Calvin Harris. You might re-watch this video a few times with the sound off.
"A Sky Full of Stars" by Coldplay. Did you know Coldplay is still making new music? Wow.
"Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon. Good advice, really.
"Boys of Summer" by The Ataris. Punk cover of Don Henley's classic from Top Gun soundtrack.
"Hot in Herre" by Nelly. No typo, that's the title. Great song when the air conditioner breaks.
"Don't You Worry Child" by Swedish House Mafia. These Swedish musicians are MUCH better than Rednex.
"Club Can't Handle Me RIght Now" by Flo Rida. Official dance song of Guanzhou Dragons in Bangkok invitational race 2013.
"The Promise" by When in Rome. Cheesy 1988 love song. It's better than it sounds.
"World Hold On" by Bob Sinclair. Do you need a description for every song on this list?
"Hangover" by Taio Cruz w/ Flo Rida. You might want to play this again when you wake up on Saturday.
"Can't Hold Us" by Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis. This song gets me PUMPED.
"Love Spreads" by The Stone Roses. This band came to HK in 2012.
"Stop the Rock" by Apollo 440. You already know most of the lyrics. Just get pumped!
Not all these songs will be played... There are plenty of other songs coming too.
