Hello Everyone my name is Julie Nickerson and I teach first grade here at the Dedham school. How lucky am I?

I live in Holden with my husband Andy. We have two awesome daughters Holly and Meg. Holly is an Occupational Therapist who is married to our new son in law Brett Dyer. They have a new baby named Drew. She is already the love of my life. Meg is a kindergarten teacher in Bangor at the Fruit Street School. Meg is married to Ben Walls. I have two grand puppies. A big chocolate lab Huckleberry and a beautiful red fox lab named Bodie. Love them! You will soon find out I love animals. I love to be outside, love reading, love spending time with my family! I am also a fitness instructor and teach two different classes. Health is so important to me.

This year I will begin my 25th year at the Dedham School as a First Grade teacher. The greatest job in the world. When your child is in my classroom they become one of my own. They will be treated like family and with the upmost respect, so let's do this!

The focus in First Grade is to become the best reader and writers possible with lots of help from you parents. Grade One has a program called Writing to Read. It happens everyday for one hour where your child will learn at their own individual level and pace. We will take them as high as they want to go. They will receive daily one on one teaching.

Another focus is studying Mammals. Your child will study an animal of choice and create a habitat. They will become bioscientist before you know it!
