All about Mrs. Haulk
My name is Erika Haulk and I have been teaching for 15 years. 2020-2021 will be like no other! I live in Dedham with my husband, two daughters, dog, two cats...and new to the family...two hermit crabs! In my spare time (haha) I love to garden, kayak, sew and dabble into many different crafts. We spend a lot of our summer swimming and boating on the lake and love to icefish in the winter. My two girls are part of the YMCA Barracuda swim team and love basketball and softball! Recently they started violin and piano too - we love to stay busy! :)
My first three years I spent teaching at a small school in Alton, Maine. I taught Kindergarten, 2nd grade and then a year of 2/3 combined. In the fall of 2008 I started teaching 2nd grade at Dedham School. After 7 1/2 wonderful years at Dedham my family moved to West Virginia when my husband was relocated after the closure of the Bucksport Paper Mill. I taught computer classes at a christian school in Maryland during our time there. Upon completion of the project in West Virginia we were lucky enough to have a position in Maine for my husband that allowed us to live almost anywhere. At the same time, Dedham was hiring! This was 2017. Amazingly enough, I came back to the same school, the same classroom and the same students I left mid-year in 2015! After a year of teaching 4th grade and 2 years of teaching third, I am now entering into this year! I LOVE third grade and LOVE the Dedham School and community! Thank you for being a part of it and sharing your children with me!
Please know that this year will be different, but we will have fun. My goal is to foster independence while providing the support your child needs to learn and grow. We will focus heavily on social/emotional well being as well as the world they know is so different right now.
If EVER you have a question please reach out to me. I will do my best to respond quickly. No question is one that cannot be asked - I'm open, honest and willing to talk with you about anything.
