Abstract: An Alzheimer's cure has been pending for over two decades for many reasons. Alzheimer's is a disease that affects the brain, which is an area that makes it very difficult to get medications to. Alzheimer's affliction rates have been rising, too. The percentage of people over the age of 65, in America, is supposed to rise to 10 percent. This rise in population will increase the prevalence of Alzheimer's, causing more people to be affected by the disease. This rise means that more efforts will need to be put into an Alzheimer's cure.

Why I chose my topic.
I chose this topic for multiple reasons. First, Alzheimer's runs through my mother's side of the family, and it's scary when you don't know much about a disease that can take so many people's lives. Second, I wanted to learn more about the disease and the causes of it to possibly protect myself from ever developing Alzheimer's. Thirdly, I wanted to learn about how close we are to a cure. Alzheimer's has been a present disease for so long, but we still don't have a cure for it, so I wanted to find out why.
