Abstract: Title IX states, "No person in the United States should be, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education or activity receiving federal funding." Title IX has impacted athletics greatly since its enactment in 1972. Title IX has impacted women's athletics the most since its enactment. Before Title IX, women did not have many opportunities to participate in athletics because inequality didn't allow women to have those opportunities. Before Title IX, only around 30,000 women participated in athletics, and now 200,000 women participate in athletics nationwide. Title IX has impacted athletics greatly since the 1970s and now women can shine in the world of athletics just as much as men (Blasberg).
