During the month of December, students are diving into the world of simple machines! Simple machines are all around us and make up a lot of different things. Students will be introduced to 7 different simple machines. A scavenger hunt around the school will help students recognize how many simple machines are actually around them. Students will also play the game "Mousetrap" as it has a lot of examples of simple machines. As our final project, students will be exposed to Rube Goldberg and the types of machines he used in his comics--students will use materials to create their own Rube Goldberg machines with simple machines. Stay tuned for pictures!
STEM activities give students the opportunity to solve problems in a variety of ways and use their creativity to do so. Students follow a STEM design process in order to create the best products that they can. These are pictures that have been taken during class to show the different STEM activities students have finished.
