The mission of the Decatur Gifted and Talented program is to recognize and nurture the development of all students with exceptional abilities so that all gifted students are able to demonstrate well-established relationships, positive self-esteem, high-level thinking, and creative productivity, no matter their background, culture, socio-economic status, or race.

To meet these goals the GATE program will provide:

1. testing and identification of gifted and high achieving students

2. program options that fit the needs of the gifted student

3. education and resources for parents and teachers in order to support their students outside of the GATE program
