The UWI Games is traditionally a biennial seven-day sporting competition and one of the longest-standing inter-campus traditions of The University of the West Indies. The Games bring together student-athletes from across the region in a celebration of sporting excellence, camaraderie, and regional unity.
Featuring ten sporting disciplines, including cricket, football, basketball, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, hockey, volleyball and track & field, the event welcomes an average of 600 participants.
The 2026 edition will be hosted in Trinidad & Tobago at The UWI St. Augustine Campus, with proposed venues including the National Aquatic Centre, the Hasely Crawford Stadium, the National Racquet Sport Centre, and UWI SPEC.

Team UWI Global Shines with Strong Showing at The UWI Games 2026
The University of the West Indies Global Campus concluded its participation in The UWI Games 2026 with commendable performances, memorable moments, and outstanding individual achievements that reflected the resilience, determination, and competitive spirit of its athletes.
Throughout the week, Team Global Campus competed across multiple disciplines, including cricket, basketball, netball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, and track and field, proudly representing students and staff from across the region.
One of the standout achievements of the Games came in table tennis, where Team Global Campus delivered exceptional performances against strong opposition. Leading the way was Imani Edwards-Taylor, whose remarkable consistency, skill, and determination throughout the competition earned her the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) title in Table Tennis. Her achievement stands as one of the highest individual honours of the Games and is a testament to her dedication and sporting excellence.
Global Campus also demonstrated tremendous resolve in team sports. The netball team produced one of the most exciting contests of the Games, battling Five Islands to a thrilling draw, while the volleyball team displayed grit and determination throughout the tournament, including a strong performance against host campus St. Augustine, where they claimed the opening set before narrowly missing out on victory.
In cricket, basketball, and other sporting disciplines, athletes competed with passion and pride, gaining valuable experience while contributing to the spirit of friendly competition that defines The UWI Games. The Campus also celebrated the efforts of its representatives in swimming and track and field, where competitors showcased discipline, perseverance, and commitment against some of the region’s top university athletes.
Beyond the results, The UWI Games 2026 provided an opportunity for students and staff across The UWI system to strengthen friendships, foster regional unity, and showcase the values of teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
The Global Campus extends heartfelt congratulations to all athletes, coaches, managers, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to a successful and memorable UWI Games. Special recognition is extended to Imani Edwards-Taylor for her outstanding MVP achievement, which brought tremendous pride to the Global Campus community at the closing ceremony.
As the Games concluded, Team Global Campus had much to celebrate, including an MVP award, competitive performances across multiple disciplines, and the pride of representing the Campus with distinction on the regional stage.

MVP: Donovan Williams | WIGUT vs UWI Management Cricket Encounter at The UWI Games.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, during UWI Games 2026, WIGUT faced The UWI Management Team in a highly competitive 15-over cricket encounter dubbed “Battle for the Bails: Cricket With A Cause II.”
Donovan Williams, Marketing and Outreach Officer at The UWI Global Campus Trinidad and Tobago, was the only representative from The UWI Global Campus who participated in the match and played for the WIGUT team. His outstanding all-round performance earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Opening the batting for WIGUT, Williams scored an impressive 53 runs, helping his team post a competitive total.
His contributions continued in the field as wicketkeeper, where he took one catch and effected two run-outs, playing a key role in restricting The UWI Management Team’s chase. He also bowled the penultimate over of the innings, claiming a wicket while conceding just two runs.
WIGUT ultimately secured victory over The UWI Management Team in a spirited contest.

The UWI Global Campus Athlete Conroy Marshall Finishes Second in Men’s 1500m at The UWI Games 2026
The UWI Global Campus athlete, Conroy Marshall, delivered a determined and disciplined performance on the track, staying composed and competitive in a tightly contested 1500-metre race at The UWI Games 2026. Wearing bib number 379, the Global Campus runner demonstrated resilience and focus while keeping pace with a strong field of athletes throughout the event to secure second place in the Men’s 1500 metres and claim the silver medal.
Marshall’s impressive performance reflected both endurance and tactical execution, as he proudly represented The UWI Global Campus with determination and excellence. Despite the intensity of the race and strong competition, he remained in contention throughout, showcasing mental toughness, consistency, and the fighting spirit of the GC Hummingbirds.
His steady stride and commitment on the track reflected the preparation and dedication of the wider team as they continued to make their mark at The UWI Games 2026. The performance highlighted not only athletic ability, but also the passion and perseverance of the Global Campus contingent.

Athletes from The UWI Global continued their participation in The UWI Games 2026 with spirited performances across several sporting disciplines.
On Friday, May 23, The UWI Global opened competition in several events. In volleyball, The UWI Global went up against The UWI Mona but fell 3-0 in a competitive contest, with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, and 25-19.
In netball, The UWI Global faced a strong Mona side, which secured an 84-6 victory.
The basketball team battled against The UWI Five Islands but went down 67-34.
In cricket, The UWI Global was defeated by The UWI Cave Hill, which won by 10 wickets after successfully chasing 36 runs.
The UWI Global, however, secured an impressive victory in table tennis against Five Islands, winning the overall match 2-1.
On Sunday, May 24, the women’s volleyball team produced a determined effort against host campus The UWI St. Augustine. The UWI Global captured the opening set 25-18 before St. Augustine rallied to win the next three sets 25-19, 25-20, and 25-19 to take the match 3-1.
On Monday, May 25, the netball team delivered one of its strongest performances of the tournament, battling Five Islands to an exciting 34-34 draw in a closely contested encounter.
The UWI Global athletes continue to demonstrate resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship as they proudly represent the Campus throughout the Games.
