The 2026 UWI Games are here, as the one of the region’s most exciting celebrations of sporting talent, and university kick off.
The Opening Ceremony takes place this Friday, May 22. Here's how to watch, and follow it across the UWItv:
Opening Ceremony: Friday, 22 May 2026 at 5:30 PM (JA/EST) | 6:30 PM (Eastern Caribbean/AST). Expect energy, culture, and a spectacular kick-off to the Games.
Competition Days: May 22–29, 2026, with 95 sporting events across Trinidad and Tobago. From track and field to swimming (some disciplines held in a single day), every match will showcase the best of UWI’s athletic spirit. Details of disciplines and campus competitions are available on the official UWI Games website.
Closing Ceremony: Friday, 29 May. A grand finale to celebrate victories, friendships, and the unforgettable spirit of the Games.
All events will be streamed live on UWItv, with three simultaneous streams available.

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, 11:00 AM (Eastern Caribbean/AST) |10:00 AM (JA /EST), a Vice-Chancellor’s Forum led by SALISES and the Latin American-Caribbean Centre will delve into "Perspectives on the Current Cuban Crisis: Issues, Impact, and Imperatives."
As Cuba grapples with severe socio-economic challenges such as economic collapse and energy shortages, we will explore not only the consequences of these issues but also their broader impact on the Caribbean region.
The Forum promises to shed light on the political tensions and humanitarian hardships faced by the Cuban people, offering a space for critical discussion and analysis.

In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, many children and adolescents across Jamaica have been severely affected.
In response, The UWI Global Campus, through the Consortium for Social Development and Research, the Caribbean Child Development Centre (CCDC), and Bloom ECCE Jamaica, has launched the Hurricane Melissa Child & Adolescent Relief Drive.

Call for Manuscripts for The Journal of Contemporary Criminal Justice | January 20, 2027 | STAFF & STUDENTS
The Journal of Contemporary Criminal Justice will publish a special issue on women in policing in the Global South, with primary consideration given to submissions that feature original, empirical work employing qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods formats.
Interested persons are invited to participate by submitting manuscripts. Abstracts of approximately 150 words must accompany the manuscript.
Manuscripts must be no more than 8,000 words (including the abstract, references, and all figures and tables), double-spaced, and authored using the formatting style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.). Deadline is January 20, 2027.
