Band is an optional activity open to all 4th-8th grade students. Beginning Band is for all students who are learning a new instrument for the first time. Advanced Band is for any student who has had at least one year of instruction on their instruments. Instrument choices include flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion. Deal School Chorus is open to all 4th-8th graders who have a love for singing and want to be part of a performing group! Chorus meets every Friday during the WIN period. Chorus will perform at the Spring Showcase of the Arts.

MUSIC CLASS

K-2
Students in grades K, 1 and 2 have Music class twice a week. Students will perform in a Halloween concert and the Spring Showcase of the Arts.
3-8 Cycle Classes
3rd-8th grade students will have Music class 3 times a week during their Music cycle. See the school calendar for exact dates.
Cycle 1 - 7th/8th September-December
Cycle 2 - 5th/6th December-March
Cycle 3 - 3rd/4th March-June
3rd and 4th grade classes will perform in the Spring Showcase of the Arts.
The cycle classes cover a variety of music topics but here are some of the areas of focus for each grade level:
3rd: Recorder
4th: Ukulele
5th: Ukulele
6th: Music Technology
7th: Guitar
8th: Composing Project
