My name is Deana Curcione, and I am the English Language Arts teacher for grades 6-8.  I graduated from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Sociology/Anthropology.

I started my career in teaching in 2008 as a fourth-grade leave replacement teacher at Nellie Bennett Elementary School in Point Pleasant Borough School District.  I then moved on to teach English Language Arts to grades 6-8 at Bayshore Middle School in Middletown School District before coming to Deal where I have been teaching for the last thirteen years.  During the 2016-2017 school year, I had the honor of being named the Deal School Teacher of the Year!

I will be co-teaching with Mrs. Ritter this year and can't be more excited!  We will work together to assist your children in achieving their educational goals. Teaching has always been my passion, and I can not think of a better place to be a teacher.  The students, staff, and administration make every day a truly enjoyable experience.

I graduated West Chester University with a BA in Elementary Education and received my Special Education degree from Rutgers Graduate School of Education. This is my seventh year teaching Special Education and I am so thrilled to be working at Deal School. I will be co-teaching with Mrs. Curcione, as well as providing differentiated and personalized instruction for students who need it. It is my goal to have your child succeed on their educational journey this year and reach their highest potential. Mrs. Curcione and I will be working together to ensure this!

Some fun facts about me are: I am an identical twin, I have a spunky three year old little boy, I am a coffee lover, and when I’m not at school you can find me at the beach.

In my opinion the keys to a successful school year are communication, collaboration, and support! So please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
