The most important thing to remember is DON'T GIVE UP! If your first prototype doesn't work, don't be afraid to go back to the drawing board and try again. Your prototype does not have to work perfectly, but the better it can work the more easily you can show how it would work if it was made professionally. Once you have finished building your prototype, fill out the form at the bottom of the page.
Your prototype can be made out of any materials you have. It does not have to be full sized and it does not have to actually work! It just needs to show us HOW it would work if it was made for real.
Ready To Build?
Before building, there are many things to consider. Think carefully about how to make your prototype work best for the people who will be using it. What materials should you use? What should it look like?

SAFETY CHECKLIST
Before beginning to build your prototype, consider the following safety rules:
- Check in with your adults so they know what you are planning to build.
- Get permission to use the materials you need.
- Use proper safety gear when using tools.
- Get an adult to help you when using tools or glue guns.
Test Your Prototype!
Now that you have finished building a working model of your idea, it's time to test it out. Bring your prototype to someone who would use it in an everyday situation. Have them test it and give you suggestions. Then, you guessed it, it's back to the drawing board! Remember to listen to your audience and make any changes needed to make your invention even better!
