Treaty Education

The first full week in November is Treaties Recognition Week. This is a time to focus on the importance of treaties and helps students and residents of Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships.

Métis Education

Powley Day Sept 19th

Powley Day is a date of great cultural and political significance. It represents the anniversary of the ground-breaking Supreme Court of Canada decision in 2003 that ushered in a new era of Métis rights.

Loius Riel Day Nov 16

The Métis are recognized as one of the IndigenousPeoples of Canada by the Constitution Act of 1982. Louis Riel Day is a time to recognize and respect the history, culture and identity of Métis people. Additionally, the City of Toronto proclaimed November 16, “Louis Riel Day” and the Métis flag is raised at City Hall.
