Converting Metric Units
Converting Metric Units
This lesson demonstrates the way my students convert one form of metric measurement to another. Basically, students are memorizing the primary units of metric measurement to make a chart. Then they add or remove zeros from the number based on the chart. There is a video below that shows how we work the skill.Â
Prefixes (Units) for Metric Measurement:
Kilo
Hecto
Deka
Meter/Liter/Gram
Deci
Centi
Milli (meter/liter/gram)
Sample Word Problems:

While driving, Mac sees a sign that says 123 kilometers to a diner. How many more meters is it to the diner?
