Dundy County Stratton School Patrons:
As I write this, the COVID-19 numbers have had a substantial spike in our county in recent weeks. While I have every intention of keeping all students in the classroom all year, we don’t yet know what curve balls this virus and state authorities will throw at us. For the time being, we have determined that we will continue to encourage frequent hand washing, social distancing where possible, and continued sanitation practices. Mask wearing will be recommended for those who have elected not to be vaccinated or those with weakened immune systems.
If you are vaccinated and exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 for more than 15 cumulative minutes in 24 hours you will be required to wear a mask and monitor symptoms for 3-5 days.
If you are unvaccinated and exposed for more than 15 cumulative minutes in 24 hours you will be quarantined for 10 days.
Know that this pains me a great deal - I don’t like wearing a mask either, and we won’t require that for now, but we take the responsibility of safely educating our children very seriously! To that end, we will be offering a vaccination clinic at the school on ..,,.. Please consider getting the vaccine if you haven’t already - Help keep our children in school!
Now I have the pleasure of introducing myself to you! I am Jackie Anderson, your new Superintendent. I have a strong classroom instruction and special education background, having worked for ESU 11, Gothenburg and Ogallala. My husband Gregg and I have 4 grown children and 10 ½ grandchildren! We are so excited to join your community and lead this school district. There are some really wonderful things happening here, and the community support for education is beyond what I have ever seen! I look forward to meeting more of you as time goes on!
August 11th, 12th: High School students complete registration and computer checkout
August 12th: Bike ride for school supplies (one more great example of community generosity)
August 16th and 17th: Teachers report for training
August 18th: Student’s first day
To close, I give thanks for the opportunity to engage with your community, build higher teaching and learning expectations, and get to know each of you!
